D Spot Dessert Cafe Enters U.S. Market With Dallas Expansion

D Spot Dessert Cafe Expands Beyond Canada With Global Franchise Plans

D Spot Dessert Cafe has spent more than a decade growing in Canada. Now the company believes its biggest expansion opportunity may be outside its home market.

The dessert and casual dining brand has opened its first U.S. location in Dallas, setting the stage for additional restaurants across America and other international markets.

The move represents a major change in scale for D Spot, which was founded in 2014 and began selling franchises in 2017.

Its network has reached 56 restaurants, and management is now targeting approximately 70 locations before the end of the year.

First U.S. D Spot Opens in Texas

Dallas became D Spot’s first American market when franchisees Abdul Khan and Faizan Mirza opened their restaurant on July 11.

The partnership was a strong fit for the company’s introduction to the United States.

Khan and Mirza have professional experience in areas including retail, hospitality and operations. They also previously lived in Canada and were familiar with D Spot before becoming franchise operators.

That existing connection provided them with an understanding of both the brand and its franchise community.

For D Spot, working with operators who already understood the concept helped reduce some of the challenges that can come with entering a new country.

Dallas Restaurant Showcases the Entire Menu

Rather than introduce D Spot through a smaller dessert-only location, the company opened a full-format restaurant in Dallas.

D Spot currently offers franchisees three different restaurant designs.

An Express location ranges from about 1,300 to 1,700 square feet and serves desserts without the company’s savory food selection.

The next option requires approximately 1,800 to 2,400 square feet. It combines the dessert menu with selected food choices including sandwiches, pizza, wings and burgers.

The largest D Spot restaurants range between 2,400 and 4,500 square feet and offer everything on the menu.

Choosing the full-size version for Dallas gives new customers an immediate look at what separates D Spot from many traditional dessert businesses.

More Than a Single-Product Dessert Franchise

The dessert industry includes many successful brands built around one signature product.

D Spot wants to compete by offering customers more choice.

Its restaurants bring several types of desserts together while larger locations also function as casual dining destinations.

That means the company is not limited to customers seeking a cookie, an ice cream or another single treat.

Its model can serve someone stopping for dessert after dinner, a family eating a full meal or a group meeting socially and sharing different menu items.

Building consumer awareness around that variety will be an important part of the company’s U.S. expansion.

Atlanta and Chicago Are Next on the Growth Map

D Spot expects five of its locations to be operating in the United States by the end of the year.

Atlanta and Chicago are among the cities expected to play a role in the next phase of growth.

The brand is concentrating on large urban markets where high-traffic locations can increase exposure.

Visibility is especially important for a Canadian company entering the U.S. for the first time. D Spot is therefore interested in sites near established restaurants, retailers and other recognizable brands that already attract significant customer traffic.

CEO and President Kaan Sayiner, who joined the company in his current leadership role in June, believes the American market provides considerable space for the concept to grow.

Dubai Opening Will Extend D Spot’s International Reach

North America is only one piece of D Spot’s expansion strategy.

The company is also preparing for its first restaurant in Dubai.

The United Arab Emirates location is currently expected to open between the end of 2026 and the first quarter of 2027.

At the same time, the company is speaking with potential master franchise partners interested in bringing D Spot to Southeast Asia, India and Australia.

Those conversations suggest the company is moving toward a franchise strategy that could eventually make D Spot a much more international brand.

The next challenge will be translating the popularity it has developed in Canada into awareness across new markets.

Dallas is the first major step in that process. If the concept gains traction with U.S. consumers and franchise investors, D Spot could be entering one of the most significant growth periods in its history.
