How To Use Google Ads

Google Ads was launched two years after Google.com, which has since become the most visited website in all of the world. After a rebrand in 2018, the advertising platform was renamed Google Ads from Google Adwords.

Each second, 63,000 searches are performed on Google. The majority of search results pages contain Google ads. Google ads, which are paid for by businesses, can drive qualified, relevant traffic to your site when people search for the products and services you offer.

This article will explain what Google ads are and how they work. It also explains why you should create your own Google ads.

What are Google Ads?

Google offers paid ads that appear in search results at google.com using Google Advertising, or advertisements that appear elsewhere through Google’s Display Network and Google’s Google AdSense program.

Here is an example from a Google search engine result page (SERP). Sponsored results or ads are marked with an “Ad” label. There are two sections for paid Google ads: one above the organic results, and one at bottom of the results page.

Google also offers Display Ads. These appear on the Google Display Network. The Display Network is a collection of third-party websites that have partnered with Google to offer Google ads. Google Display Network ads can be served in text, image or video format and can be targeted differently. This includes banner ads and remarketing.

AdSense will allow you to place your ads in certain areas of a website.

Google Ads: Why do they appear?

Google Ads is focused on keywords. Advertisers choose keywords that are relevant to their offerings and the words people are most likely to search for when looking for their product. The advertisers then place bids on these keywords. Each bid is based on the price they will pay for a Google user clicking on their ad. The SERP will display your Google ads based on this bid and the Quality Score that Google assigns to you based on the quality or the proposed ad. Advertisers pay a cost to click on the ads. This cost is called the cost-per-click or CPC. It is calculated using the following formula:

This is the origin of Pay-Per-Click.

The Google Ads Auction

Google Ads is based on an auction system. This happens every time a user does a keyword search.

Optimize your Quality Score and your bid amount to “win” Google Ads auctions. This will allow you to see your Google Ads advertisement appear for relevant keywords. Your ad position will be better if you have a higher Quality Score and a lower bid amount. Your Quality Score is affected by the following factors:

  • The relevancy of the Google ad you place to the search query
  • The relevance of your advertising group
  • Your ad’s relevance to its landing page
  • Historical Click-Through Rate ( CTR) for the ad and its ad groups
  • Overall historical account performance

A high-quality score has many other benefits.

  • Lower prices Google rewards advertisers who have high Quality Scores by lowering the cost per click (CPC), which helps improve ROI.
  • More exposure– Ads that have high Quality Scores will appear more often and in better places on the SERP (the top vs. bottom) of the page. This allows you to convert more clicks without having raise your bids.

Google Ads Prices

Google Ads costs vary based on many factors such as the competition of keywords and your industry, geographic location, quality of advertising campaigns, and many other factors.

The average cost per Google search ad click in the US is $2.32 across all industries. Google Ads costs are much lower in other countries.

Are Google Ads really that effective? Let’s look at some statistics to help us answer this question:

  • Google Ads has a click-through ratio of almost 8%
  • Display ads generate 180 million impressions per month.
  • Paid ads on Google are available for users who are ready and able to purchase.
  • 43% of customers purchase something they saw on YouTube ads.

Google Display Ads

You’ve probably seen a display advertisement on any internet site you have visited.

Imagine this: You’re looking for plane tickets to your next trip and a banner advertising a hotel chain appears on the right. This is a display advertisement that businesses can use to redirect customers to their site.

It’s easy to see how display ads can help businesses promote their products and services while potential customers are browsing other websites. Display ads can be used to reach people on the internet, regardless of whether they are reading news or looking at videos on YouTube.

Targeting specific websites or people with display ads is a great way to maximize the effectiveness of your advertising.
