Inside Ideal Siding’s Expansion From Startup to 100+ Markets

Inside Ideal Siding’s Seven-Year Journey From Vancouver to North America

Ideal Siding was not a decades-old construction company when it began franchising across North America.

The business started in Vancouver in 2019 and, within several years, began moving into U.S. markets. Today, the company has grown beyond 100 locations, giving it a significantly different profile from the relatively young siding concept it was at the beginning of the decade.

Its evolution also provides a broader story about what is happening inside the home improvement industry: traditional contractor businesses are increasingly adopting technology, centralized marketing, professional management and franchise systems to scale services that historically remained highly local.

The Idea Started With Changing the Contractor Model

Founder and CEO Alex Filipuk came to the siding industry with a background in computer science and finance rather than a traditional construction career.

His concept was built around changing the relationship between homeowners, project managers and installation crews.

Instead of requiring an owner to personally install siding, Ideal Siding developed a management-driven approach. Local operators handle sales, customer relationships and project oversight while professional crews complete installations.

The first Ideal Siding business launched in Vancouver in 2019.

One of its early differentiators was a long workmanship warranty designed to give homeowners greater confidence in exterior renovation work.

After expanding across Canada, the company entered the United States in 2022.

Expansion Accelerated Dramatically in 2024

The company’s development began moving much faster as its U.S. presence grew.

Ideal Siding opened 30 new franchise locations during 2024, with 28 of those openings in the United States.

Markets added during that period included Austin, Boston, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, Pittsburgh and Portland.

The company reported doubling its revenue during the year while the size of its franchise network increased approximately 85%.

Six franchise owners surpassed $1 million in annual revenue during 2024, according to company figures.

Ideal Siding also began talking about a much larger long-term vision: a network reaching 300 locations and $600 million in system revenue by 2030.

Those remain targets rather than guaranteed outcomes, but they illustrate how management’s expectations for the company changed as expansion accelerated.

Another 23 Locations Followed in 2025

Growth did not stop after the strong 2024 expansion.

Ideal Siding awarded 19 franchise agreements during 2025 and opened roughly 23 new locations.

The footprint pushed into additional markets including Chicago, Long Island, Cincinnati, Baltimore, Richmond, Providence and Ottawa.

By mid-2025, the company had already more than doubled the size of its network compared with April 2024.

Ideal Siding then entered 2026 with more than 90 locations and a clear path toward its next milestone.

It ultimately moved beyond 100 locations after awarding another 11 territories and opening nine during the year.

Today, the brand operates across six Canadian provinces and has agreements covering 23 U.S. states.

A Franchisee Becomes Brand President

The story of Ideal Siding’s leadership development is also unusual.

Arkady Vitrouk joined the franchise system in 2020 as its fourth franchisee.

His earlier career included senior leadership roles in technology and publishing, including serving as CEO of AbeBooks and Director of Kindle Content at Amazon EU. He had also worked at Goldman Sachs earlier in his career.

In 2025, Ideal Siding promoted Vitrouk to Brand President.

His responsibilities now include franchise operations, owner support and development of the company’s infrastructure as the system expands.

That progression—from one of the first franchisees to the executive responsible for helping lead the broader network—also reflects how quickly the organization itself has evolved.

Ideal Siding Begins Moving Beyond Residential Jobs

The siding business is usually associated with individual homeowners replacing or upgrading their exterior.

Ideal Siding is increasingly looking beyond that customer.

The company formally launched a Commercial Support Program in 2026 to help franchise owners compete for larger projects involving apartment properties, multifamily developments, townhomes and commercial buildings.

The difference between residential and commercial siding extends beyond project size.

Commercial operators may need to interpret construction documents, prepare competitive bids, work through contracts and permitting requirements, and coordinate with property managers and general contractors.

Ideal Siding’s centralized commercial team was created to provide expertise in those areas.

An early example came from Texas, where a franchise owner began managing an approximately $800,000 siding replacement project involving an 18-unit apartment property.

Another commercial project was completed in Hamilton, Ontario.

If the program continues developing, commercial construction could become a meaningful second business channel for franchisees that were originally built primarily around homeowners.

Building an Installer Education System

Rapid expansion creates another challenge that marketing alone cannot solve: finding enough skilled tradespeople.

Ideal Siding began developing Siding Academy as a formal training platform focused on siding products, technical installation skills and service standards.

Three foundational courses were developed during 2025 as the company began building the program.

The academy serves an important strategic purpose.

A franchise can standardize its logo, marketing and sales systems across the country. Standardizing physical construction work is considerably more difficult because every project depends on local crews.

A structured training platform gives Ideal Siding another tool for maintaining workmanship standards as its geographic footprint expands.

Outside Recognition Adds Credibility

Ideal Siding has also received recognition from companies and organizations within both franchising and construction.

In 2025, Ideal Siding was named to the James Hardie President’s Club.

Only 32 companies across the United States received the President’s Club distinction for 2025, representing fewer than 1% of James Hardie ALLIANCE members. The recognition considers strong sales performance or significant year-over-year growth.

Franchise Business Review has separately recognized Ideal Siding in multiple 2026 franchise categories.

Those awards do not determine the future success of the business, but they give the young franchise system additional third-party visibility as it recruits entrepreneurs in new markets.

Growth Comes During an Interesting Time for Remodeling

Ideal Siding’s expansion is occurring against a complex home improvement backdrop.

High housing costs and changing interest rates have created challenges for home sales, but Americans continue spending significant amounts maintaining and renovating existing homes.

Harvard’s Joint Center for Housing Studies expects annual improvement and maintenance spending on owner-occupied U.S. homes to remain above $500 billion, even as the rate of growth cools.

The siding category also has structural demand drivers beyond purely cosmetic renovations. Exterior materials protect buildings from weather, influence insulation and energy performance, and eventually require replacement as homes age.

That provides a substantial market—but also a competitive one filled with independent local contractors.

The Next Test Will Be Different From the First

Ideal Siding has already completed the difficult transition from a Canadian startup to a franchise company operating across a large portion of North America.

Its next challenge is different.

The company wants to approach 200 locations and 100 franchisees within three years while eventually pursuing an even larger 2030 vision.

Managing that expansion will require more than opening pins on a map.

Ideal Siding will need to maintain installation quality, support franchise owners, build capable local teams and demonstrate that commercial expansion can complement its core residential business.

The first seven years proved the concept could expand quickly.

The coming years will show whether Ideal Siding can turn that rapid expansion into a durable North American franchise platform.
